Plant: Citrus aurantium is known as the Neroli of Portugal, and is an orange tree known for it¡¦s sweet fruit and white blossoms, from which the oil is distilled. The tree can grow to 9 meters (30 feet) and is an evergreen with glossy leaves. The Orange tree provides various oils from various parts of the tree. Neroli from the blossoms, Orange Sweet and Orange Bitter are taken from the peel, and Petitgrain from the glossy leaves.
Oil:

The oil is obtained from the blossom via distillation and produces a yellow oil that becomes red- brown with age. The Neroli oil is a more expensive oil, due to the fact that it takes 1 tone of blossom to produce 1 kg of oil. Neroli can aid in relieving spasms of the smooth muscles, especially the small intestine. It can assist with insomnia caused from anxiety, is also said to contain erotic ingredients which promote excitement..

Neroli can help to relieve depression, irritability and tiredness as well as the symptoms of PMT and menopause.It can also act as a soothing agant in highly emotional states, such as extreme fear, excitement and anger.

In skin care Neroli is useful for dry, sensitive and mature skins. It is said to stimulate the growth of healthy cells, therefore rejuvenating for the skin. It is also used frequently in blends for the treatment of stretch marks.
